Karrimor SF Sabre 30 Review By Justin Miles

Sabre 30 review
Our brand ambassador, Justin Miles, has been trialing our Sabre 30 daypack since April 2019. Here’s what he has to say about it. “The KarrimorSF Sabre 30 is, like every other pack in the KarrimorSF range, absolutely superb; a brilliant ‘fit-for-purpose’ design brought to life using the best materials and strict manufacturing and quality control practices” “The Sabre 30 is indeed a lightweight daypack, but the innovative, functional and feature- rich design gives it capability far beyond most packs in this size range.” “The elasticated side pockets are perfect for carrying, in my case, water-bottles which I secure to the pack using carabiners. The ski-guides and straps are invaluable when ski- touring or ski-mountaineering, but they can also be used for storing and transporting other long items such as walking-poles, camera tripods or an umbrella. The zipped lid compartment is easy to access using the quality YKK zip which means a lower likelihood of jams and tears, and in my case, usually houses ‘quick-grab’ items such as torches, fire-kit, a compact camera, knife, small first aid kit, sunglasses and glasses, and binoculars.”
“One of my favourite features of the Sabre 30 is the cats-cradle style bungee arrangement on the top flap. The bungee could have many uses, but I mostly use it to secure and transport bundles of dry kindling that I collect in the last few hours before stopping my journey each day - a tip that I picked up from SERE instructor Steve Aley on a foraging excursion around the Cornish coast.” “The main compartment of the Sabre 30 is, in effect, one big ‘black hole’ which gives a tremendous level of versatility in a pack of this size. The main compartment is big enough to carry enough kit for a very well-equipped day in the wilderness or a lightweight but comfortable night or two under the stars” “The easy to adjust padded shoulder straps, waist-belt and sternum strap afford the level of comfort that I’ve come to rely on from all of the Karrimor SF even when the pack is fully-loaded. The ‘coolmesh’ back system allows air to flow more freely between my back and the pack itself which makes carrying a loaded pack on even the warmest and stickiest of days far more bearable.” “As with all of my packs, although the Sabre 30 is constructed using durable waterproof material, I do line the pack with a Karrimor SF dry bag just for an added level of protection against water.” “Since I started using the Sabre 30 I really have come to rely on it as my ‘go-to’ daypack’, whether it’s for a day of hiking trails of mountains or an overnight bushcraft camp.” Find out more about the Sabre 30
